Notice of a Discussion on Tuesday, 9 June 2015

The Vice-Chancellor invites those qualified under the regulations for Discussions (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 111) to attend a Discussion in the Senate-House, on Tuesday, 9 June 2015, at 2 p.m. for the discussion of:

1. Report of the Council, dated 18 May 2015, on the future development of the West Cambridge site (Reporter, 6387, 2014–15, p. 544).

2. Report of the Council, dated 18 May 2015, on external finance for certain building projects, including North West Cambridge and the non-operational estate (Reporter, 6387, 2014–15, p. 548).

3. Report of the Council, dated 18 May 2015, on the financial position and budget of the University, recommending allocations from the Chest for 2015–16 (Reporter, 6387, 2014–15, p. 550).

4. Second-stage Report of the Council, dated 27 May 2015, on the construction of education space and gallery refurbishment at Kettle’s Yard (p. 602).

Amending Statutes for Christ’s College

18 May 2015

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received from the Governing Body of Christ’s College, in accordance with the provisions of Section 7(2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act 1923, the text of a proposed Statute to amend the Statutes of the College. The proposed amendments and the current Statutes of the College are available on the College’s website at:

Paper copies may be inspected at the University Offices until 10 a.m. on 12 June 2015.

Amending Statutes for St John’s College

21 May 2015

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received from the Governing Body of St John’s College, in accordance with the provisions of Section 7(2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act 1923, the text of a proposed Statute to amend the Statutes of the College. The current Statutes of the College and the amending Statute are available on the College’s website at:

Amending Statutes for Gonville and Caius College

25 May 2015

The Vice-Chancellor begs leave to refer to his Notice of 5 February 2015 (Reporter, 6375, 2014–15, p. 381), concerning proposed amending Statutes for Gonville and Caius College. He hereby gives notice that in the opinion of the Council the proposed Statutes make no alteration of any Statute which affects the University, and do not require the consent of the University; that the interests of the University are not prejudiced by them, and that the Council has resolved to take no action upon them, provided that the Council will wish to reconsider the proposed Statutes if they have not been submitted to the Privy Council by 25 May 2016.

Amending Statutes for Wolfson College

The Vice-Chancellor begs leave to refer to his Notice dated 30 April 2015 (Reporter, 6385, 2014–15, p. 518), concerning proposed amending Statutes for Wolfson College. He hereby gives notice that in the opinion of the Council the proposed Statutes make no alteration of any Statute which affects the University, and do not require the consent of the University; that the interests of the University are not prejudiced by them, and that the Council has resolved to take no action upon them, provided that the Council will wish to reconsider the proposed Statutes if they have not been submitted to the Privy Council by 25 May 2016.

Election to the Council

The Vice-Chancellor announces that the following candidate has been nominated in accordance with Statute A IV 2 for election to the Council in the class shown below, and that it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be nominated:

Election to the Board of Scrutiny

The Vice-Chancellor announces that the following candidates have been nominated for election to the Board of Scrutiny in the classes shown below, in accordance with Statute A VII 3, and it has been certified to him that the candidates have consented to be nominated:

No other persons having been nominated, the candidates are duly elected in each class, to serve for four years from 1 October 2015.

Regulation 2 for the election of members of the Board of Scrutiny (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 121, as amended by Grace 3 of 15 April 2015) provides that, if at an election insufficient nominations are received to fill all the places either in class (c)(i) or in class (c)(ii), the Council shall appoint as many members as may be necessary or shall ask the Vice-Chancellor to arrange a further election. No other persons having been nominated in class (c)(ii), the Council will be asked whether it wishes to make appointments to the two remaining vacancies or to re-open nominations.

Election to the Nominating Committee for External Members of the Council

The Vice-Chancellor announces that the following candidate has been nominated for election to the Nominating Committee for External Members of the Council in the class shown below (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 120), and that it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be nominated:

Further to the Council’s Notice dated 15 December 2014 (Reporter, 6371, 2014–15, p. 319), the Vice-Chancellor gives notice that, after consultation with the Pro-Vice-Chancellors-elect concerned, Professor Christopher Abell, CHR, shall serve as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Eilís Ferran, CTH, as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Institutional and International Relations), and Professor Nigel Slater, F, as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Regional Affairs).

Senate-House Yard and the University Combination Room: Notice of closure on Wednesday, 17 June 2015

Both Senate-House Yard and the Combination Room will be closed on Wednesday, 17 June 2015, on the occasion of the Honorary Degree Congregation. Access to the University Offices will be from Trinity Lane. Only those with admission tickets for the Congregation and other authorized persons will be allowed to enter the Yard during the closure.
