Form and Conduct of Examinations, 2010–11

Notices by Faculty Boards, or other bodies concerned, of changes to the form and conduct of certain examinations to be held in 2010–11, by comparison with those examinations in 2010, are published below. Complete details of the form and conduct of all examinations are available from the Faculties or Departments concerned.

Classical Tripos

The Faculty Board of Classics give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2011, the form of the examinations for certain papers of the Classical Tripos will be changed as follows:

Part Ia

Paper 1. Greek translation (also serves as Paper GL1 of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos)

Section (a) will contain three passages of Greek, each taken from works on a schedule of texts prescribed from time to time by the Faculty Board. Section (b) will contain two passages of Greek instead of three, for unseen translation. These passages will not be ‘graded’ for difficulty.

Section (a) will contain three passages of Latin, each taken from works on a schedule of texts prescribed from time to time by the Faculty Board. Section (b) will contain two passages of Latin instead of three, for unseen translation. These passages will not be ‘graded’ for difficulty.

All other papers remain unchanged.

Examinations in Archaeology and in Egyptology for the degree of Master of Philosophy

The Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2011, Paper G19 will henceforth be examined on the basis of two 4,000-word essays, each worth 50 per cent of the final mark.

Examination in Finance for the degree of Master of Philosophy

The Degree Committee for the Faculty of Business and Management give notice that in the academical year 2010–11 the subjects for the examination in Finance for the M.Phil. Degree will be as listed below. The method of examination is shown for each subject.

Group 1 (compulsory subjects)

M300. Econometric methods (two-hour written examination) and

MF4. Empirical research in finance and accounting (assessed by two 2,000-word essays)

or

MP0-1. Quantitative research methods (assessed by four workbooks of research exercises) and

MP0-1A. Quantitative research methods – advanced (assessed by four workbooks of research exercises)

or

M300. Econometric methods (two-hour written examination) and

MF40. International financial econometrics (assessed by two-hour class test)

(4) Two of the following shall be taken as Group 1 subjects. The remaining subjects may be selected as Group 2 (optional papers).

Examination in Technology Policy for the degree of Master of Philosophy

The Degree Committee for the Faculty of Business and Management give notice that in the academical year 2010–11 the subjects for examination in Technology Policy for the M.Phil Degree will be as listed below.

The Technology Policy Professional Practice stream corresponds to 15 equally weighted modules, including four core modules, the Final Group Project which is weighted two times, MOT&I, which is weighted two times, and seven electives (three of which must be chosen from the outer core).

The Technology Policy Research stream corresponds to nine equally weighted modules including four core modules, two research modules, and the Research Dissertation which is weighted three times.
