The General Board have approved a recommendation by the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine that institutions approved by the Faculty Board to provide clinical placements for Cambridge medical students may be entitled to use the wording ‘Associate Teaching Hospital’ or ‘Associate Teaching General Practice’ and that medical students who are required to reside in these approved institutions while undertaking their clinical placements should be allowed to count such residence for the purpose of keeping terms. The General Board have accordingly approved amendments to the regulations for the M.B., B.Chir. Degrees to include a definition of ‘Associate Teaching Hospital’ or ‘Associate Teaching General Practice’ and an amendment to the regulations for the Faculty of Clinical Medicine to allow persons at such institutions to be entitled Recognized Clinical Teachers as set out below.
The Council has agreed to submit a Grace (Grace 3, p. 360) to amend the regulations for Precincts of the University and residence (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 181).

Regulation 3.
By inserting a new sub-paragraph (c) so as to read:
(c)the term Associate Teaching Hospital or Associate Teaching General Practice shall mean a hospital or health-care provider, or other institution associated with the University, which has been approved by the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine to provide clinical placements for medical students;
by relettering sub-paragraphs (c)–(l) as (d)–(m) and amending cross-references accordingly, and by replacing in lines 2–3 of sub-paragraph (f) (formerly sub-paragraph (e)) the words ‘or in such hospital, general medical practice, or other institution associated with the University’ by the words ‘University Hospital, Associate Teaching Hospital, or Associate Teaching General Practice’.

By replacing in line 3 of the regulation the words ‘or in such hospital, general medical practice, or other institution associated with the University’ by the words ‘or in such University Hospital, Associate Teaching Hospital, or Associate Teaching General Practice or other institution associated with the University’.
