Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 28 October 2009

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 6 November 2009.

1. That a Catherine Grigoriou-Theocarakis Prize be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulations:1

Catherine Grigoriou-Theocarakis Prize

1. The sum of £8,000 received from Dr Nikos Theocarakis, shall form a fund, the income of which shall be used to provide a prize called the Catherine Grigoriou-Theocarakis Prize for Excellence in Modern Greek Studies.

2. The Prize shall be awarded by the Examiners for the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos to the candidate who achieves the best overall result in Part Ib or Part II of that Tripos, having taken one or more papers in Modern Greek.

3. The value of the Prize shall be the annual income of the Fund.

4. If in any year the Prize is not awarded, the income for that year shall be added to the capital of the Fund.

2. That, with effect from 1 October 2010, all candidates classed in Part III of the Mathematical Tripos from 1962 to 2010 inclusive who kept twelve terms in doing so, or who have received an allowance from the Council of up to three terms, be permitted to supplicate for the M.Math. Degree.2

3. That, with effect from 1 October 2010, all candidates who were candidates not for honours in Part III of the Mathematical Tripos and who attained the honours standard in that Part from 1962 to 2010 inclusive be permitted to supplicate for the M.A.St. Degree.2

4. That, if Graces 2 and 3 are approved, no person qualifying for either the M.Math. Degree or the M.A.St. Degree on the basis of examination performance before 2011 be permitted to proceed to the degree, either in person or in absence, at a Congregation for General Admission to Degrees.2

5. That Regulation 2 for the Raymond and Edith Williamson Fund (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 950) be amended by replacing the Manager in class (b) (currently the Secretary of the Board of History and Philosophy of Science) so as to read:
