Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 22 April 2026

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 111), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 1 May 2026. Further information on requests for a ballot or the amendment of Graces is available to members of the Regent House on the Regent House Petitions site.§

1. That Dame Eleanor Veronica Elizabeth Sharpston, KC, M.A., K, be reappointed Chair of the Septemviri, to serve with immediate effect until 31 December 2029.

2. (a) That Regulation 3 of the Ordinance for the Unified Administrative Service (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 693, as amended by Grace 1 of 15 January 2025) be amended to read as follows:1

3. The Chief Financial Officer shall have the same responsibilities as the Registrary under Regulation 2(a)(ii) and (iii) in respect of the Finance Division.

(b) That, with effect from the resignation of the current Chief Financial Officer, the reference to the Chief Financial Officer be removed from Regulation 5 of the Ordinance for the Board of Scrutiny (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 120), replaced with a reference to the Director of Finance in Regulation 1(b)(ii) of the Ordinance for the University and Staff Joint Board (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 127), the Ordinance for the Chief Financial Officer (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 692) be rescinded, and in the Ordinance for the Unified Administrative Service (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 693, as amended by Grace 1 of 15 January 2025) Regulation 3, Regulation 6(c)(i), Regulation 7(a)(iii), the wording ‘Save as provided in Regulation 3:’ at the beginning of Regulation 2 and the wording ‘Subject to paragraph (iii) below,’ at the beginning of Regulation 7(a)(ii) be rescinded and the remaining regulations and any cross-references renumbered.

3. That the recommendations in paragraph 4 of the Report of the Council, dated 18 February 2026, on changes to Statutes J 4 and C XV (Reporter, 6815, 2025–26, p. 349) be approved.2
