Further information on requests for a ballot or the amendment of Graces is available to members of the Regent House on the Regent House Petitions site.§

3. That in Regulation 5(c) of the Ordinance for Stipends (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 684) the grades for the holders of the offices of Professor (Grade 11) and Reader and the part of Note 4 of Schedule I about Professors (Grade 11) be revised from 1 October 2024, to read as follows:3

  • 3In August 2024, the Regent House approved changes to Schedule I of the Ordinance for Stipends, to remove the restrictions on contribution increments for academic staff at Grades 9, 10 and 11 as part of an interim pay and benefits package (Reporter, 6751, 2023–24, p. 856; changes to the salary scales were also approved in October 2024, Reporter, 6756, 2024–25, p. 58). However, a further change to the Ordinance was overlooked. The Council, on the recommendation of the General Board and the HR Committee, is proposing this change to remove the restrictions on contribution increments for academic staff at Grade 11, whilst retaining the starting point at spine point 63. The University’s internal promotion rules will now apply to those being promoted to the office of Professor (Grade 11) and therefore on promotion, an individual will either move to spine point 63 or by two increments, whichever is the greater.
