Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 22 February 2017

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 103) will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 3 March 2017.

1. That PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP be reappointed, in accordance with Statute F I 5, to be the qualified accountants for the audit of the University’s financial statements for the financial year 2016–17.1

2. That the Annual Report of the Council for the academical year 2015–16 (Reporter, 6448, 2016–17, p. 202) be approved.2

3. That the recommendations in paragraph 6 of the Second Joint Report of the Council and the General Board, dated 23 January 2017 and 18 January 2017, on the consideration of student complaints of harassment and sexual misconduct (Reporter, 6452, 2016–17, p. 326) be approved.3

4. That the Table of Fees attached to the regulations for University Composition Fees (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 150) be amended for 2018–19 as set out in the Schedule to the Council’s Notice dated 20 February 2017 (p. 371).4

5. That an Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities Fund be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulations:5

Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities Fund

1. Benefactions and such other sums as may be received or applied for the same purpose shall form a fund called the Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities Fund to support the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CRASSH).

2. The Fund shall be administered by Managers who shall comprise the Head of the School of Arts and Humanities and the Head of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences (one of whom shall be Chair), and the Director of CRASSH, any of whom may appoint a deputy to serve as Manager on her or his behalf.

3. Subject to Regulation 4, the income of the Fund shall be applied to support CRASSH (or a successor body) in such manner as the Managers shall decide, including but not limited to the payment of the stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect costs of any office or post payable by the University, and the funding of research, conferences, and other events.

4. Any unexpended income in any financial year may, at the discretion of the Managers, be carried forward for use as income in accordance with Regulation 3 in any one or more subsequent financial years.

Graces to be submitted to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on 25 February 2017

The Council has sanctioned the submission of the following Graces to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on Saturday, 25 February 2017.1

That the following person be admitted to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by incorporation:

9. Nicholas John Sivewright Hardy, Fellow of Darwin College, Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Oxford (2013).

That the following persons be admitted to the degree of Master of Arts under the provisions of Statute B II 2:

11. Lise Myra Gough, Departmental Secretary in the Computer Laboratory.

12. Marcus Roger Morgan, Fellow of Murray Edwards College.

13. Aleksandar Stević, Fellow of King’s College.

14. Caroline Anne Stewart, Departmental Secretary in the Computer Laboratory.

15. Niamh Marie Tumelty, Librarian in the Faculty of Engineering.
