Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Spanish and Portuguese. The Norman MacColl Symposium in the Michaelmas Term 2009 will be entitled Themes in literature in Portuguese: what we talk about when we talk about love. It will take place on Thursday, 3 December 2009 (from 9.30 a.m.), in The Fisher Building, St John’s College (Convenor: Professor Maria Manuel Lisboa). The Norman MacColl Lecturer will be Professor Ana Paula Ferreira, Professor of Portuguese, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, University of Minnesota. The title of her lecture will be Miscegenation as the blind spot of lusotropicalist rhetoric. MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit. Cancellation of lectures: The lectures on 1 and 2 December 2009 by Professor Shahid Khan, advertised on 4 November 2009 (Reporter, p. 196), have been cancelled.
