Applications are invited for this new position of Senior University Lecturer to work within the Centre for Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR), a UKCRC-funded Centre of Excellence in Public Health Research within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. The Department is one of Europe’s leading academic departments of population health sciences and has a multidisciplinary programme of research.
You will be able to demonstrate a track record of, or potential for, leading an independent programme of public health research particularly focusing on population-level influences on dietary behaviour and the evaluation of interventions to shift the population distribution of dietary behaviour (e.g., by having the following: postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology or public health, high-impact publications, and research grants). You will have experience of teaching at a postgraduate level and be able to contribute to existing and new postgraduate programmes.
A suitable candidate with less experience is eligible for appointment at the non-clinical University Lecturer level (salary scale: £36,715–£46,510).

The Faculty of History wishes to invite applications for a scholar to deliver the third Balzan-Skinner Lecture in modern intellectual history since c. 1500. The Balzan-Skinner scholar will hold a Visiting Fellowship at the University’s Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CRASSH) for one term or semester (up to a maximum of twelve weeks) during the 2011–12 academical year. He/she will be resident in Cambridge during this period which will conclude with the delivery of a Lecture on a topic or theme in modern intellectual history since c. 1500, and a one-day colloquium to be held in conjunction with CRASSH. The Visiting Fellow will receive an accommodation grant of £2,000 and, in addition, a sum of up to £18,000 will be made available to reimburse the successful applicant’s employing institution for the cost of release from academic duties.
Applicants must hold posts (irrespective of the source of funding) in institutions of higher education or research and, ideally, must also be at an early stage of their career (normally no further than ten years beyond the award of the Ph.D. Degree).
