Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 15 July 2026

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, 2024, p. 111), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 24 July 2026. Further information on requests for a ballot or the amendment of Graces is available to members of the Regent House on the Regent House Petitions site.§

1. That a K. Lisa Yang Autism Research Fellows Endowment Fund be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulations:1

K. Lisa Yang Autism Research Fellows Endowment Fund

1. The funds received from Cambridge in America, following a donation from K. Lisa Yang, together with such other sums as may be received or applied for the same purpose, shall form an endowment fund called the K. Lisa Yang Autism Research Fellows Endowment Fund to advance education for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining at least three fellowships on the terms set out in these regulations.

2. The Managers shall be responsible for the administration of the Fund and the application of its income and shall comprise the Head of the School of Clinical Medicine, the Head of the Department of Psychiatry, and a member appointed by the Council of the School of Clinical Medicine for such period as the Council of the School shall determine, one of whom shall be appointed Chair by the Council of the School.

3. Each holder of a Fellowship shall be called a K. Lisa Yang Fellow. The holder of each Fellowship will be an early-career postdoctoral researcher who shall undertake research in the field of autism appointed by the Managers. The Managers shall determine the definition of those eligible for a Fellowship.

4. The income of the Fund shall be applied towards the payment of the stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect costs of the Fellowships.

5. Any unexpended income in any financial year, including income accrued during a vacancy in any Fellowships supported by the Fund, may, at the discretion of the Managers:

(a)be applied to support the work of the Fellows;

(b)be carried forward for use as income in any one or more subsequent financial years; and/or

(c)with the approval of the Council of the School of Clinical Medicine, be applied to support autism research in the University in such manner as may be recommended by the Managers.

2. That a K. Lisa Yang Autism Research Endowment Fund be established in the University, to be governed by the following regulations:1

1. The funds received from Cambridge in America, following a donation from K. Lisa Yang, together with such other sums as may be received or applied for the same purpose, shall form an endowment fund called the K. Lisa Yang Autism Research Endowment Fund to advance research in the field of autism.

2. The Managers shall be responsible for the administration of the Fund and the application of its income and shall comprise the Head of the School of Clinical Medicine, the Head of the Department of Psychiatry, and a member appointed by the Council of the School of Clinical Medicine for such period as the Council of the School shall determine, one of whom shall be appointed Chair by the Council of the School.

3. Subject to Regulation 4, the income of the Fund shall be applied to the support of the work of the K. Lisa Yang Centre for Autism Research at Cambridge in such manner as the Managers shall determine, including but not limited to the payment of the stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect costs of posts payable by the University, and the costs of studentships, research costs and consumables.

4. Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 3, the Managers may, in their discretion, for the period of up to 21 years from receipt of the donation^[1] from Cambridge in America, instead of applying the income of the Fund in any year, accumulate all or part of such income by investing the same and the resulting income in any investments authorised by these regulations or by law as an accretion to and as part of the capital of the Fund. The Managers may apply the whole or any part of such accumulated income in any subsequent year by applying it as income of the Fund arising in the then current year either:

(a)in accordance with Regulation 3; or

(b)with the approval of the Council of the School of Clinical Medicine, to support autism research in the University in such manner as may be recommended by the Managers.
