The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculty of History, has approved amendments to the special regulations for the course in American History for the degree of Master of Philosophy by advanced study to include references to the Ordinance for Assessment Formats and to remove Regulation 3, with the remaining regulations to read as follows:
1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in American History for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:
(a)a dissertation of not less than 15,000 words and not more than 20,000 words in length, including appendices, but excluding footnotes, tables, and bibliography, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of History;
(b)assessments offered in a format permitted under the Ordinance for Assessment Formats, as prescribed by the Degree Committee.
2. At the discretion of the Examiners the examination may include an oral examination on the dissertation and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.

(b)assessments offered in a format permitted under the Ordinance for Assessment Formats, as prescribed by the Degree Committee.

1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Political Thought and Intellectual History for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:
(a)a dissertation of between 15,000 words and 20,000 words in length, including appendices, but excluding footnotes, tables, and bibliography, on a topic approved by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of History;
(b)assessments offered in a format permitted under the Ordinance of Assessment Formats, as prescribed by the Degree Committee.
2. At the discretion of the Examiners the examination may include an oral examination on the dissertation and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculty of History, has approved amendments to the special regulations for the course in World History for the degree of Master of Philosophy by advanced study to include references to the Ordinance for Assessment Formats and to remove Regulation 3, with the remaining regulations to read as follows:
1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in World History for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:
(a)a dissertation of not less than 15,000 words and not more than 20,000 words in length, including appendices, but excluding footnotes, tables, and bibliography, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of History;
(b)assessments offered in a format permitted under the Ordinance for Assessment Formats, as prescribed by the Degree Committee.
2. At the discretion of the Examiners the examination may include an oral examination on the dissertation and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Engineering, has approved an amendment to the special regulations for the course in Sensor Technologies and Applications for the degree of Master of Research to allow a choice of assessment by adding Regulation 1(c), as follows. The other regulations are reproduced for clarity:
1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Sensor Technologies and Applications for the degree of Master of Research shall consist of:
(a)three mandatory modules;
and
(b)reports and presentations on two mini research projects and one sensor team challenge. The reports on the mini research projects shall not be more than 7,000 words in length; the report on the sensor team challenge shall not be more than 20,000 words in length;
or
(c)reports, literature review and presentations on one research project and one sensor team challenge. The literature review shall not be more than 4,000 words in length, and the report on the research project shall not be more than 10,000 words in length. The report on the sensor team challenge shall not be more than 20,000 words in length.
2. In publishing the list of modules the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Engineering shall announce the form of examination for each module, which shall be either a written paper, or one or more pieces of coursework or other exercises, or a combination of these.
3. The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral examination on the reports and on the general field of knowledge within which they fall, and on the other work submitted by the candidate under Regulation 1.
