Regulations for examinations

Applied Biological Anthropology for the M.Phil. Degree*

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 524)

With effect from 1 October 2020

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Departments of Archaeology, Social Anthropology and Sociology,* has approved a request to remove Applied Biological Anthropology as a subject available for examination for the degree of Master of Philosopy, and has therefore agreed to rescind the Special Regulations for the examination.

With effect from 1 October 2020

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Department of Politics and International Studies, has approved an amendment to the regulations so as to reduce the placement report word count from 10,000 to 7,500 words and to introduce an independent research paper of no more than 7,500 words. This will bring the regulations into line with current practice.

By amending Regulation 1(d) and inserting a new Regulation 1(e) to read as follows:

(d)a placement report of not more than 7,500 words related to the work placement of the individual candidate;

and

(e)an independent research paper of no more than 7,500 words, including a policy brief incorporating an executive summary on a subject agreed with the candidate’s departmental supervisor.
