Graces submitted to the Regent House on 25 September 2019

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, 2019, p. 105) will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 4 October 2019.

1. That Regulations 1–3 of the regulations for the University Combination Room (Statutes and Ordinances, 2019, p. 139) be rescinded and replaced with the following regulations:1

1. The University Combination Room shall be managed by a Committee of the Council which shall consist of the following:

(a)a member of the Regent House appointed by the Council as Chair; and

(b)the Proctors, the Pro-Proctors, and the two additional Pro-Proctors appointed under Regulation 4 of the regulations for the Proctors and Pro-Proctors.

2. The annual accounts for the University Combination Room shall be provided to the Finance Committee.

2. That Regulation 5 of the regulations for the Munby Fund and Fellowship (Statutes and Ordinances, 2019, p. 930) be amended to read as follows and Regulation 6 deleted:2

5. The Electors to the Munby Fellowship shall be the Librarian, ex officio, or a duly appointed deputy and not more than five other persons appointed from time to time by the Library Syndicate to serve for a period determined at the time of their appointment by the Syndicate. The Electors shall have discretion to seek the advice of appropriate bodies, including appropriate bodies overseas, before making an election.

Footnotes

  • 1The Council is proposing that the Proctors and Pro-Proctors serve on the Committee ex officio, as persons nominated by the Colleges in rotation who are elected or appointed by Grace of the Regent House, and that scrutiny of the accounts for the Combination Room be the responsibility of the Finance Committee.

  • 2The Council, on the recommendation of the Library Syndicate, is proposing these changes to enable the Librarian to appoint a deputy and to increase the number of others appointed as Electors from four to five.
