Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 31 January 2018

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 105) will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 9 February 2018.

1. That the recommendations in paragraph 7 of the Report of the General Board, dated 29 November 2017, on the establishment and re-establishment of certain Professorships (Reporter, 6487, 2017–18, p. 168) be approved.

2. That the recommendations in paragraph 7 of the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board, dated 11 December 2017 and 29 November 2017, on the governance of the Careers Service (Reporter, 6488, 2017–18, p. 179) be approved.1

3. That the recommendations in paragraph 6 of the Second-stage Report of the Council, dated 9 January 2018, on the provision of additional hockey and changing facilities at the Wilberforce Road Sports Ground (Reporter, 6490, 2017–18, p. 293) be approved.

4. That the following new sub-paragraph (f) be inserted in Regulation 1 of the regulations for the Staff Childcare Committee (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 141) and the remaining sub-paragraphs renumbered:2

(f)two persons appointed by the Council;

5. That in Regulation 2 of the regulations for the Appointment of members of the University Tribunal (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 200), the words ‘shall appoint ten persons to the panel’ be replaced with ‘shall appoint up to fifteen persons to the panel’.3

  • 2The Council, at the request of the Staff Childcare Committee, is proposing a new membership class to enable appropriate representation of all relevant interests on the Committee. 



  • 3The Council is submitting an amendment to enable more members to be recruited to serve on panel (b) of the University Tribunal in order to assist with the constitution of the Tribunal from those members available to attend a hearing on a date appointed by the Chair.
