Regulations for examinations

Natural Sciences Tripos, Part III: Earth Sciences

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 401)

With effect from 1 October 2017

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography, has approved an amendment to the regulations for Part III of the Natural Sciences Tripos (Earth Sciences) as follows:

Regulation 36, Earth Sciences.

Paragraph (b) to be amended so as to divide the three-hour examination paper into two sections. Section A will consist of a list of topics relating to a field trip; and Section B will consist of a list of topics relating to general aspects of Earth Sciences.

Examination in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment for the M.St. Degree

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 544)

With effect from 1 October 2018

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee of the Faculty Board of Architecture and History of Art and the Strategic Committee of the Institute of Continuing Education, has approved the reinstatement of the examination in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment for the degree of Master of Studies following the suspension of admissions for the academical year 2016–17 (Reporter, 6420, 2015–16, p. 431). Revisions have been made to Regulation 2 of the special regulations for the examination, which now reads as follows:

Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment

2. The examination shall consist of:

(a)a thesis, of not more than 15,000 words in length, including footnotes, excluding bibliography and appendices, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee;

(b)a case study, of not more than 4,000 words in length;

(c)an essay of not more than 3,000 words in length;

(d)a group project of not more than 7,000 words in length;

(e)studio design work.
