Vacancy in the University

Temporary Lectureship in the Statistical Laboratory in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

Salary: £36,715–£46,510 a year.

Applications are invited for a three-year temporary (unestablished) Lectureship, commencing on 1 September 2011, to provide teaching and examining support and contribute to the research activity of the Laboratory.

The preferred area of research will be within operational research, probability, or mathematical finance, although researchers in other areas of activity in the Laboratory will also be considered. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. Degree and should be able to demonstrate an excellent research record.

Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in History at the Centre for History and Economics

Applications are invited for two three-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in History, starting on 1 October 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. The posts are in connection with the research programme on Exchanges of economic, legal, and political ideas, supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The programme is based at the Centre for History and Economics, Magdalene College, Cambridge, and at Harvard University, and is co-ordinated by Professor Emma Rothschild. The Fellowships are not associated with a Fellowship of a Cambridge College, but can be combined with a non-stipendiary College Fellowship. The stipend will be £27,319 in the first year and subject to increments in subsequent years. The positions are pensionable.

Affiliated Lecturers

Biology. Dr Stephanie Katharine Lindsay Ellington, LC, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 November 2010 for a further two years. Reverend Dr Geoffrey Malcolm Weston Cook, ED, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 December 2010 for a further two years. Dr Kathleen Mary Veronica Bennett, G, and Dr Jasmin Fisher have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 January 2011 for a further two years.

Correction

Certain of the details published in the 24 November 2010 edition of the Reporter are incorrect. They should read as follows:
