Mansfield College

PRINCIPAL

The Fellows of Mansfield College, Oxford intend to elect a Principal to take up office on 1 September 2011 following the retirement of Dr Diana Walford.

Mansfield College is one of the smaller Colleges of the University of Oxford. It combines its own unique and progressive culture with the best of traditional Oxford, offering an informal and supportive environment in which all work together to achieve academic excellence and foster a vibrant community. The College prides itself on its outreach activities, and believes that the highest standards of academic achievement are best reached by providing opportunities to the most talented and highly motivated students from all backgrounds.

The Principal is the Head of College, who works in partnership with the members of the Governing Body to set and maintain the intellectual agenda for the College and ensure that its distinctive ethos and aspirations flourish. Candidates will have a distinguished record of achievement in an academic or other professional field and a track-record of combining strategic thinking and attention to detail. They will have excellent communication skills, and be able to engage warmly with a wide range of people. Experience of organizational leadership and the ability to conduct business effectively are expected along with a sound grasp of financial issues and an enthusiasm for playing an energetic and imaginative part in the College’s fundraising activities.

St John’s College

ESTATES MANAGER

St John’s College, Oxford is seeking to appoint an Estates Manager to direct its programmes of internal and external building works and maintenance. The person appointed will provide day-to-day management of the College’s building and maintenance staff.

This position is critically important for the running of the College. The person appointed will report directly to the Principal Bursar and represent the College in many of its dealings with external contractors. The post offers an attractive salary and benefits.

University of Oxford in association with Magdalen College

PROFESSORSHIP OF PSYCHOLOGY

The University of Oxford intends to make an appointment to the Professorship of Psychology in the Department of Experimental Psychology, Medical Sciences Division, from 1 October 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter. The Professorship is associated with a Fellowship at Magdalen College.

The Professor will be expected to play a major role in the research activity of the Department, to undertake original work, and to be responsible for the general supervision of research and advanced work in the Department. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an outstanding record of research achievement, the ability to obtain substantial external grant support, and have the vision and personal qualities to provide research leadership within, and beyond, the Department.
