Dr Manohar Singh Gill, Dip.Devt.Stud., recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, Honorary Fellow of Queens’ College, formerly Chief Election Commissioner, Member of the Rajya Sabha and Minister for Youth and Sports in India, died on 15 October 2023, aged 87 years.

The Reverend Canon Brian Leslie Hebblethwaite, M.A., D.D., Life Fellow and formerly Chaplain, Dean of Chapel, Tutor, Director of Studies in Theology and Religious Studies and Director of Studies in Philosophy of Queens’ College, member of Magdalene College, former University Lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity, sometime Proctor (Senior Proctor), died on 27 October 2023, aged 84 years.

James (Jim) Arthur Bennett, M.A., Ph.D., FRAS, FSA, former Fellow and Senior Tutor of Churchill College, member of Clare College, formerly Curator of the Whipple Museum of the History of Science, sometime President of the British Society for the History of Science, Sarton and also Agnes Mary Clerke Medallist, died on 28 October 2023, aged 76 years.

Alan Leonard Ross Findlay, M.A., Vet.M.B., Ph.D., Emeritus Fellow and former Senior Tutor, Fellow Librarian, Director of Studies in Medicine and Director of Studies in Veterinary Science of Churchill College, member of Christ’s College, formerly Head of the Department and University Lecturer in Physiology, sometime University Demonstrator in Veterinary Anatomy in the Department of Anatomy, once member of the University Council, died on 31 October 2023, aged 83 years.

Dame Antonia Susan Duffy (A. S. Byatt), DBE, B.A., (Hon.) Litt.D., FRSL, (Hon.) FBA, Honorary Fellow of Newnham College, Booker and James Tait Black Memorial Prizewinner, writer and critic, died on 16 November 2023, aged 87 years.
