Regulations for examinations

Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 382)

With effect from 17 April 2019

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Biology and the Faculty Board of Veterinary Medicine, has approved an amendment to Regulation 20 and to the Supplementary Regulations for Part Ib of the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos to amend the assessment for Human Reproduction and to remove references to Veterinary Reproductive Biology.

Regulation 20.

By amending Regulation 20(e) so as to read:

(e) The examination in Human Reproduction shall consist of:

(i)a combined written and practical paper of one-and-a-half hours, which shall contain short answer questions (Section I) and a practical examination (Section II);

(ii)one written paper of one-and-a-half hours, which shall contain essay questions (Section III).

Part Ib

By removing the Supplementary Regulation for Veterinary Reproductive Biology (VRB).

Music Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 403)

With immediate effect

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Music, has approved amendments to the following regulations to revise the length of examinations and procedures and deadlines for the submission of coursework.

Regulation 10.

By amending Regulation 10(b) so as to read:

(b) Paper 4 will consist of a two-hour examination plus either an essay in accordance with Regulation 17 or a recital in accordance with Regulation 18; each element will attract equal weighting;

Regulation 14.

By amending the deadline for submission of the portfolio work for Paper 3 in Part Ib so as to read:

‘for Paper 3 in Part Ib, the last Thursday of Full Lent Term preceding the examination and the sixteenth day of Full Easter Term in which the examination is held;’

and by removing the following text from the penultimate sentence:

‘each separate item shall be initialled by the teacher under whose direction it was written, as an indication that the teacher approves the submission.’

Regulation 15.

By amending Regulation 15(b) so as to read:

(b) Each candidate must obtain the approval of the proposed subject by the Faculty Board not later than the end of Michaelmas Term.

Regulation 18.

By amending the regulation so as to read:

18. A candidate who offers the recital option of Paper 1 in Part Ia, the recital option of Paper 4 in Part Ib, or Paper 4 in Part II shall give a recital of a length specified by Faculty Board. Each candidate must obtain the approval of the proposed programme by the Teaching Committee of the Faculty Board not later than the fourth day of Lent Term (for Parts Ia and Ib) or the division of the Lent Term (for Part II).

The Faculty Board of Music is satisfied that no candidate’s preparation for the examination will be adversely affected.

Veterinary Sciences Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 434)

With effect from 10 April 2020

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Biology and the Faculty Board of Veterinary Medicine, has approved an amendment to Regulation 20 and to the Supplementary Regulations for Part Ib of the Veterinary Sciences Tripos to remove reference to Human Reproduction and to amend the assessment for Veterinary Reproductive Biology.

Regulation 20.

By amending Regulation 20(e) so as to read:

(e) The examination in Veterinary Reproductive Biology shall consist of:

(i)a combined written and practical paper of one and a half hours, which shall contain short answer questions (Section I) and a practical examination (Section II);

(ii)one written paper of one and a half hours, which shall contain essay questions (Section III).

SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

Part Ib

By amending the following Supplementary Regulation so as to read:

Veterinary Reproductive Biology (VRB)

Section I and II of the examination will consist of short-answer questions on the structure and function of the reproductive systems of mammals, with particular reference to domestic mammals.

Bachelor of Theology for Ministry

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 452)

With immediate effect

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Divinity, has approved the following amendment to the Regulations and Supplementary Regulations for the degree of Bachelor of Theology for Ministry.

Regulation 13.

By removing the footnote after the following paper so as to allow the paper to be delivered in 2018–19:

Correction

The Notice published on 18 July 2018 (Reporter, 6515, 2017–18, p. 823) contained information relating to approved changes to the Supplementary Regulations for the Theology, Religion, and Philosophy of Religion Tripos which do not relate to this course. All papers for the Bachelor of Theology for Ministry begin with the prefix 'B.Th.'.

Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (Revised Regulations)

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 563)

With effect from 10 April 2020

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Biology and the Faculty Board of Veterinary Medicine, has approved amendments to Regulation 7 to amend the assessment for Veterinary Reproductive Biology (VRB) for the Second Vet.M.B. Examination.

Regulation 7.

By amending Regulation 7(c) so as to read:

(c)The examination in NAB shall consist of a written paper of one hour, which shall contain compulsory short-answer questions (Section I), and a practical examination of one hour (Section II).

By amending Regulation 7(f) so as to read:

(f)The examinations in ISBM and PFVP and VRB shall each consist of a written paper of forty-five minutes.

Language Centre CULP Awards

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 663)

With effect from 1 October 2018

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Council of the School of Arts and Humanities, has approved the delivery of a new language course in Korean. The schedule of subjects approved for certificates of proficiency awarded by the Language Centre will be amended to include the following subject:

Korean Basic 1
