Professor Donald Lynden-Bell, CBE, M.A., Ph.D., FRS, Emeritus Fellow of Clare College and Emeritus Professor of Astrophysics, first Director of the Institute of Astronomy, formerly President of the Royal Astronomical Society, winner of the Kavli Prize for Astrophysics, died on Tuesday, 6 February 2018, aged 82 years.

Dr David Joseph Payne, M.A., Ph.D., Fellow of King’s College and member of Gonville and Caius College, formerly University Lecturer in Engineering, died on Sunday, 7 January 2018, aged 84 years.

Correction:

Unfortunately the Notice published on 14 February 2018 (Reporter, 6495, 2017–18, p. 392) contained an error, now corrected in both the online and pdf versions. Professor Baker died on 4 February 2018 and not 2017.
