University Lectureships in Statistics (two posts) in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

Salary: £36,715–£46,510 a year.

Applications are invited for two University Lectureships in Statistics, to be held in the Statistical Laboratory, and filled by 1 September 2011 or by negotiation.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an outstanding research record. While there are no formal restrictions as to research area, it is envisaged that each appointee will develop novel core statistical methodology, either generic or aimed at specific application areas. Current and planned partnerships include biostatistics, machine learning, signal processing, physics, economics, etc. Applications from those with a strong statistical background in cognate subjects will be welcomed.

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be probationary for five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter.

Records Manager – Student Administration (two posts) in the Academic Division

Salary: £25,751–£29,853 a year.

The post-holder will manage the accurate recording of data in the student records system, contribute to the development of internal business processes in support of increased efficiency, advise users of the system, and support the improvement of data integrity.

The post-holder will be based in two sections of the Academic Division: the Student Administration and Records section and the Board of Graduate Studies. Together they provide the administrative resources for the maintenance of the University’s student records and associated activities for students and staff. The offices liaise extensively with students, Colleges, and the University’s Faculties and Departments.

The post-holder will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have previous administrative experience, preferably gained within the HE sector.

There are two vacancies, one permanent and one temporary (to provide maternity cover until October 2011 or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier).

Mellon Teaching Fellowships at CRASSH: Call for Proposals 2011–12

CRASSH is now soliciting proposals from members of University of Cambridge faculty (UTOs and CTOs) for collaborative seminar courses to be taught at CRASSH in Michaelmas Term 2011 or Lent Term 2012. Courses should be co-proposed and co-taught by two people from different disciplinary areas, Faculties, or Schools.

Proposals should present the applicant’s rationale in relation to interdisciplinarity and/or disciplinary innovation. Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Analysis in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

Salary: £27,319–£35,646 a year.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Mathematical Analysis, funded by the University of Cambridge and held in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. The Fellowship is available for up to three years, commencing on 1 October 2011 or otherwise by agreement.

The appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the University’s Postdoctoral Research Associate scale.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. Degree in Mathematics and have demonstrated a capability to produce world-class research in some branch of analysis (including pure, stochastic, applied and computational analysis).

A similar Fellowship is advertised in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (see http://www.damtp.cam.ac.uk/vacancy/). Both Fellowships will be associated with the newly created Cambridge Centre for Analysis, which is a joint activity of the two Mathematics Departments. Applications for either of these Fellowships will automatically be considered for the other.
