Crane Fund

Apothecary for the Crane Fund

The Crane Fund is seeking a medical professional (psychiatrist, GP or other suitably qualified healthcare professional) to act as Apothecary, alongside the existing Apothecary. The successful candidate is expected to commence the role during the 2026–27 academic year.

The Crane Fund provides financial assistance for medical treatment and testing to students at the University who are experiencing financial hardship. The Apothecaries review pre-screened applications, ensuring student eligibility in accordance with NICE guidelines and assessing supporting evidence including GP letters, student statements and College Tutor endorsements. Casework is shared between the two Apothecaries, with the Fund typically receiving around 30 applications per term. This equates to an average workload of around 5 to 6 hours per month. The position carries an honorarium of £1,000 per academic year. The statutory term for this post is five years.

For more information or to express your interest, please contact the Secretary to the Crane Fund in the Student Funding and Fee Policy Team at financialassistance@admin.cam.ac.uk by 30 October 2026.
