Regulations for examinations

Education Tripos (Old Regulations), Part I

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 302)

With effect from 1 October 2016

The General Board has approved a request from the Faculty Board of Education to amend Schedule 11 of papers for Section III of Part I of the Education Tripos, which has the agreement of the Faculty Board of Divinity, to allow candidates to select Paper A1 of Regulation 18 of the Theological and Religious Studies Tripos.

The Faculty Board has confirmed that no student will be disadvantaged by this change.

The amended schedule will be as follows:

Religious Studies

Candidates may offer two or three papers chosen from Paper A12 and Group B in Regulation 18 of the Theological and Religious Studies Tripos.

Footnotes

  • 1No candidate may offer any paper under this schedule that he or she has previously offered in another University Examination.


  • 2No candidate may offer both this paper and Paper B1 of Regulation 18 of the Theological and Religious Studies Tripos.


Examination in Mathematical Genomics and Medicine for the degree of Master of Research

With effect from 1 October 2017

On the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Mathematics, the General Board has approved Mathematical Genomics and Medicine as a subject for the M.Res. Degree with effect from 1 October 2017. The degree will be available as the first year of the Ph.D. in the same subject. Special regulations for the examination in the subject have been approved as follows:

Mathematical Genomics and Medicine

1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Mathematical Genomics and Medicine for the degree of Master of Research shall consist of:

(a)six modules, each assessed by a written report of no more than 1,000 words in total, exclusive of tables, footnotes, bibliography, and appendices;

(b)two research reports, each of not more than 6,000 words in total, exclusive of tables, footnotes, bibliography, and appendices, on a theme and of a form approved by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Mathematics. The assessment of both reports shall include an oral presentation of the project work on which the report is based;

(c)a log-book of training activities undertaken during the course.

2. The module reports, research reports, oral presentation, and log-book shall provide evidence to satisfy the Examiners that a candidate can carry out original investigations, assess and interpret the results obtained, and place the work in the wider perspective of the subject.

3. The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral examination on the work submitted by the candidate and on the general field of knowledge within which such work falls.
