Professor Sir Christopher Alan Bayly, Ph.D., Litt.D., CTH, M.A., D.Phil., Oxford, FRHistS, FRSL, FBA, Emeritus Vere Harmsworth Professor of Imperial and Naval History, former Director of the Centre of South Asian Studies, Honorary Fellow and former President of St Catharine’s College, died on 18 April 2015, aged 69 years.
