Form and conduct of examinations, 2013

Notices by Faculty Boards, or other bodies concerned, of changes to the form and conduct of certain examinations to be held in 2013, by comparison with those examinations in 2012, are published below. Complete details of the form and conduct of all examinations are available from the Faculties or Departments concerned.

Preliminary Examination for Part Ia of the Classical Tripos

Further to their earlier Notice of 28 November 2012 (Reporter, 6287, 2012–13, p. 156), the Faculty Board of Classics give notice that with effect from the examination to be held in 2013 the form of the examination for the following paper for the Preliminary Examination for Part Ia of the Classical Tripos will be as specified below:

Paper 2. Latin questions.

The paper will be divided into two sections.

Section (a) will contain two passages of Latin for unseen translation. Each passage will account for 25% of the marks available for the paper.

Section (b) will contain

(i)English sentences for translation into Latin (accounting, in total, for 25% of the marks available for the paper), and

(ii)a passage for linguistic comment from the texts prescribed for Paper 1 (accounting for 25% of the marks available for the paper).

All other papers remain unchanged. The Faculty Board is satisfied that no candidate’s preparation for the examination in 2013 will be affected.
