Sir Alan Howard Cottrell, Sc.D., FRS, FREng, Vice-Chancellor, 1977–79, Emeritus Goldsmiths’ Professor of Metallurgy, Master of Jesus College, 1974–86, Emeritus Fellow of Jesus College, 1986–2012, Honorary Fellow of Jesus College and of Christ’s College, died on 15 February 2012, aged 92 years.
