Form and conduct of examinations, 2011–12: Notices

Notices by Faculty Boards, or other bodies concerned, of changes to the form and conduct of certain examinations to be held in 2011–12, by comparison with those examinations in 2011, are published below. Complete details of the form and conduct of all examinations are available from the Faculties or Departments concerned.

Computer Science Tripos

The Faculty Board of Computer Science and Technology give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2012, the form of the examination for the following papers for the Computer Science Tripos will be changed as follows:

Part Ia

Paper 1. Computer science 1

Paper 1 will be divided into four sections. Section A will contain two questions on Foundations of computer science. Section B will contain two questions on Discrete mathematics I. Section C will contain two questions on Algorithms I. Section D will contain two questions: one on Floating-point computation and one on Object-oriented programming with Java. Candidates will be expected to answer one question from each of the four sections, and one further question taken from any section.

Part Ib

Paper 4 will contain nine, rather than eight, questions. Candidates will be expected to answer any five questions.

All other papers remain unchanged. Full details of the examination can be found by following the appropriate links from http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/teaching/exams/.

Management Studies Tripos

The Faculty Board of Business and Management give notice that with effect from the examinations to be held in 2012 the form of the examination for Paper M3 Economics and finance of the Management Studies Tripos will be changed as follows:

From:

Answer four questions, two from Section A, and two from Section B.

To:

Answer four questions, two from Section A, one from Section B(1) and one from Section B(2).

In addition, within the Examination paper, Sections B(1) and B(2) shall be clearly marked, each with the instruction:

SECTION B(1)

Answer EITHER Question 5 OR Question 6

SECTION B(2)

Answer EITHER Question 7 OR Question 8

This change is made in accordance with Regulation 7 (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 347).
