Oriental Studies Tripos, 2011

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, and notwithstanding the provisions of the regulations for the Oriental Studies Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 396–407) they have agreed to authorize the Examiners for Part II of the Oriental Studies Tripos in 2011 to examine papers J.16. (Japanese history) and J.18. (Japanese politics) by one research essay of between 6,000 and 7,500 words, including footnotes and excluding bibliography, in place of a three-hour written examination (see the Faculty Board’s Notice below).

The Faculty Board have confirmed that no candidate’s preparation will be affected, and that all candidates have been preparing to offer research essays for examination.
