Friends of Cambridge University Library

A meeting of the Friends of Cambridge University Library will be held on Tuesday, 9 November, at 5.30 p.m., in the Morison Room, University Library, West Road, at which Adrian Barlow will give a talk titled Who chooses the war poets?. All are welcome. Friends: £2.50; others: £3.50 (junior members of Cambridge University: free). Tea will be served from 5 p.m.

Philosophical Society

On Monday, 8 November 2010, at 5.30 p.m. in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry, Lensfield Road, Sir Gregory Winter, FRS, of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, will deliver a lecture entitled The antibody revolution: from the science and inventions to companies and medicines. All who are interested are invited.

At a meeting held on Monday, 25 October 2010, in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Theatre, Professor J. Woodhouse was in the Chair.

Dr Simon Guest of the Department of Engineering delivered a lecture entitled Tensegrity: the art and mathematics of pre-stressed structures.

A vote of thanks was moved by Dr Claire Barlow.
