Director, Judge Business School: Notice

The University of Cambridge is seeking an outstanding successor to Professor Arnoud De Meyer, who has successfully led Judge Business School through a period of unprecedented growth.

Candidates for the appointment will be of the highest calibre and will have strong academic credibility, coupled with significant leadership experience, most likely from having held a senior position within one of the world’s leading business or management schools. Continuing to promote and position Cambridge Judge Business School distinctively, both nationally and internationally, is of great importance.

The Director will hold a Professorship, and is expected to play a major role in the academic development of the School within the University of Cambridge.

Professorship of Gastroenterology: Notice

The Board of Electors to the Professorship of Gastroenterology invite applications from appropriately qualified candidates with interests relevant to the fields of gastroenterology and/or hepatology. There are particular opportunities for developing work in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal immunology, and the microbiome. It is hoped the successful candidate will take up appointment as soon as possible. The Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has agreed to award an honorary consultant contract to the Professor and to provide full access to appropriate clinical facilities.

The annual pensionable stipend for a Professor with clinical responsibilities is on a scale from £74,504 to £100,446, at a point determined by level of seniority.

Clinical Lecturers NIHR-IAT in the School of Clinical Medicine

Applications are invited for two newly established Academic Clinical Lectureships in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics linked with one of the following specialties: Respiratory Medicine; Medical Oncology; Clinical Oncology; Diabetes/Endocrinology.

The Lectureships are funded jointly by the NIHR-IAT programme and a £5.5m award from the Wellcome Trust for interdisciplinary training in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (TMAT). The TMAT programme provides a broad training in clinical translational research integrated with a number of specialties. These posts offer an exceptional opportunity to undertake high quality research within an outstanding clinical environment. They are intended to bridge the gap between Research Training Fellowships and Clinician Scientist posts, allowing holders to complete specialty training in one of the areas listed above while developing into independent investigators with several strong publications. Applicants should be medically qualified, have full GMC registration and already hold or have submitted for a Ph.D./D.Phil./M.D. and be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS East of England Deanery as a Specialist Registrar. The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years and can be taken up at any time between 1 August and 31 March 2011. The salary will be in the range of £30,685 to £53,132 a year.

Office of Esquire Bedell

Applications are invited from members of the Senate for appointment as an Esquire Bedell with effect from 1 October 2010.

The principal duty is to attend the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor on public occasions, including Congregations and University Sermons. The appointment is open to women and men.

The pensionable stipend for an Esquire Bedell is £4,487 a year.

First Opinion Equine Veterinarian (fixed-term) in the Department of Veterinary Medicine

The Department of Veterinary Medicine’s first opinion 100% equine practice has a growing client base. The Department requires an equine clinical veterinarian from 1 September 2010 to promote the further development of this teaching resource for clinical veterinary students. The post-holder will work as part of a team to provide 24-hour care and preventive medicine to the Department’s equine clients, and some instruction of students, both as a mobile service and within the Hospital in all aspects of the clinical caseload. The successful applicant should be a MRCVS with a minimum of two years’ experience in equine practice. An RCVS Certificate or strong interest in a specific equine discipline would be an advantage.

The salary will be in the range of £36,715 to £46,510 a year (grade 9). The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, and will be subject to a six-month probation period.
