Historical Tripos, 2011: Amendments to subjects and periods

Part I

The Faculty Board of History give notice that they have amended their announcement of the options for Paper 1 of Part I of the Historical Tripos, 2011 (Statutes and Ordinances, 2009, pp. 334–5, Reporter, 2008–09, p. 914), as follows:

Candidates for Part II in 2011, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period before 1750, may meet the requirement to take a pre-1750 paper in Part II (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 336–7) by offering one of the Special Subjects A, C, D, E, F, and G or by offering Paper 3 or one of the Papers 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period before 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2011, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period after 1750, may meet the requirement to take a post-1750 paper in Part II by offering one of the Special Subjects H, I, L, M, N, O, P, and Q or by offering Papers 4 or 5 or one of the Papers 7, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period after 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2011, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper in European History, may meet the requirement to take a European History paper in Part II by offering one of the following papers: 12, 14, 18, 20, and 22.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate’s preparation for examination will be adversely affected by these amendments.
