Historical Tripos, 2011: Amendments to subjects and periods

Part I

The Faculty Board of History give notice that they have amended their announcement of the options for Paper 1 of Part I of the Historical Tripos, 2011 (Statutes and Ordinances, 2009, pp. 334–5, Reporter, 2008–09, p. 914), as follows:

The Faculty Board of History give notice that they have amended their announcement of special and specified subjects in respect of Papers 1D and 2D, and 1P and 2P, and Papers 15, 17, and 28 of Part II of the Historical Tripos, 2011 (Statutes and Ordinances, 2009, pp. 335–6, Reporter, 2008–09, pp. 914–15), as follows:

By amending the title of Papers 1D and 2D

By amending the title of Papers 1P and 2P

From	No subject specified
to	The reconstruction of Germany, 1945–55

By amending the title of Paper 15

Candidates for Part II in 2011, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period before 1750, may meet the requirement to take a pre-1750 paper in Part II (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 336–7) by offering one of the Special Subjects A, C, D, E, F, and G or by offering Paper 3 or one of the Papers 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period before 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2011, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period after 1750, may meet the requirement to take a post-1750 paper in Part II by offering one of the Special Subjects H, I, L, M, N, O, P, and Q or by offering Papers 4 or 5 or one of the Papers 7, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period after 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2011, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper in European History, may meet the requirement to take a European History paper in Part II by offering one of the following papers: 12, 14, 18, 20, and 22.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate’s preparation for examination will be adversely affected by these amendments.
