The Vice-Chancellor invites those qualified under the regulations for Discussions (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107) to attend a Discussion in the Senate-House, on Tuesday, 27 April 2010, at 2 p.m., for the discussion of:
1. Report of the Council, dated 15 March 2010, on amendments to Statute A (membership of the Senate and election of student members of the Council) (Reporter, p. 660).
2. Report of the Council, dated 15 March 2010, on the construction of a new Student Resources Centre building for the Department of Veterinary Medicine (Reporter, p. 662).
3. Report of the Council, dated 22 March 2010, on the construction of a lift in the Old Schools (Reporter, p. 676).
The Registrary has received notice from the Principal of Homerton College that the College has received the Royal Charter of Incorporation under the name and style of ‘The Principal, Fellows, and Scholars of Homerton College in the University of Cambridge’. The Charter came into effect on 12 March 2010.
The amendment to Statute K, 3(a) approved by Grace 3 of 28 January 2009 and by Her Majesty in Council on 8 July 2009 takes effect from the same date. The amendment recognizes Homerton College as a College of the University.
The regulations for the College as an Approved Society (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 1013) are rescinded with effect from the same date.
The employment Equality (Age) Regulations came into effect on 1 October 2006. Under these Regulations employees have the right to request continuation of their employment beyond the normal retirement age. The Council and the General Board have approved procedures set out by the Human Resources Committee with respect to members of staff in the University. The policy is available on the Human Resources Division website at http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/hr/policy/retirement/. Under the procedures approved it was agreed that the University would be advised of the names, posts, and durations of contracts of academic officers who were retained. The following officers who were due to retire during 2008–09 have been retained.
