Rothschild Research Bursary: Notice

The Faculty Board of Economics and Politics gives notice that, due to the generosity of N.M. Rothschild and Sons, it is able to offer guaranteed financial support for three years to one UK applicant to its Ph.D. programme each year.

UK citizens who have received an offer of admission as a Graduate Student to the Faculty's Ph.D. programme by 31 March 2004 and who apply through the University of Cambridge for a three year ESRC research studentship, tenable from October 2003, will automatically also be considered by the Faculty Board for a Rothschild Bursary. One candidate will be selected, on the basis of the academic references and research proposal submitted to the ESRC and as part of the application for admission to the University. This candidate will be informed of his or her selection by 30 June 2004.

The amount of the Bursary will be announced at a later date, depending on the results of the ESRC competition and the University's Domestic Research Studentships competition (see p. 5), to which candidates are also entitled to apply. In the case of more than one outstanding candidate, more than one Bursary may be awarded to successful ESRC applicants, to supplement ESRC funding.

Any further clarification needed can be obtained from the Administrative Officer, Graduate Studies, Faculty of Economics and Politics, Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 9DD.
