Regulations for examinations

Examination in Environmental Policy for the M.Phil. Degree

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 507)

With effect from 1 October 2017

The General Board has, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee of the Department of Land Economy, approved an amendment to the regulations to allow for the word ‘pathway’ to be added to core modules under Regulations 1 and 2(b).

By amending the second sentence of Regulation 1 so as to read:

The list shall include a research methods module, two pathway core modules, and no fewer than four optional modules (the Degree Committee may specify that a candidate shall offer one or more specific modules).

By amending Regulation 2(b) so as to read:

(b)two pathway core modules;

Examination in Land Economy for the M.Phil. Degree

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 514)

With effect from 1 October 2018

The General Board has, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee of the Department of Land Economy, approved an amendment to the regulation so as to cover the progression hurdles required to proceed to the examination.

By adding the following sentence:

In order to proceed to the examination, candidates must satisfactorily attend and participate in the Department’s Research Methods modules, as prescribed by the Degree Committee.

Examination in Land Economy Research for the M.Phil. Degree

With effect from 1 October 2017

The General Board has, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee of the Department of Land Economy, approved amendments to the regulations so as to reflect current practice.

By amending Regulation 2(a) and 2(b) so as to read:

(a)one research methods essay of not more than 4,000 words;

(b)one core or two optional modules chosen by the candidate with the approval of the Degree Committee from the list of modules published under Regulation 1;

By adding Regulation 4:

4. In order to proceed to the final examination, candidates must satisfactorily attend and complete the following, as prescribed by the Degree Committee:

(a)six modules run by the Social Sciences’ Research Methods Centre (SSRMC).

With effect from 1 October 2018

The General Board has, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee of the Department of Land Economy, approved an amendment to the regulations so as to remove the option of a written examination.

By amending the second sentence in Regulation 1 so as to read:

In publishing the list the Degree Committee shall announce the method of examination of each module which may include a long essay, shorter essays, project work, or a combination of these; they shall specify the limits to be placed on the length of any essays and project work.

Examination in Planning, Growth, and Regeneration for the M.Phil. Degree
