Annual Meetings of the Faculty Boards

Clinical Medicine

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 3.45 p.m. on Tuesday, 19 November 2013, in the Committee Room, Level 4, School of Clinical Medicine. The business of the meeting will include a report by the Chair and the election of members of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine in class (c) in accordance with Statute C, III, 7 and Statute C, IV, 2(c), to fill three vacancies. One will be filled to 31 December 2017 by a University Officer in the Faculty who is not a Professor or Associate Lecturer; one will be filled to 31 December 2017 by the holder of an NHS appointment at Consultant level, who is certified by the Faculty Board to be giving instruction to clinical medical students; and one will be filled to 31 December 2017 by a junior doctor who is certified by the Faculty Board to be giving instruction to clinical medical students.

Nominations for these elections, signed by the proposer, who must be a member of the relevant constituency mentioned above, and by the nominee indicating willingness to serve if elected, and notice of any other business, should be sent to: The Secretary of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine, Box 111, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, CB2 0SP, to arrive no later than noon on Wednesday, 30 October 2013.

Divinity

The Chair of the Faculty Board of Divinity gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 14 November 2013, in the Lightfoot Room of the Divinity Building, West Road. The business to be discussed will include the Chair’s report and the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board to serve for four calendar years in class (c), from 1 January 2014.

Nominations for the posts in class (c) must be seconded, and the consent of the candidate obtained in advance, and should reach the Administrative Officer, Faculty of Divinity, West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9BS, not later than Friday, 1 November 2013. Notice of any other business to be discussed should reach the Administrative Officer by the same date.

Examination in Modern South Asian Studies for the M.Phil. Degree, 2013–14

The Centre of South Asian Studies, under the aegis of the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Human, Social, and Political Science, gives notice that the mandatory and optional modules available to study for the M.Phil. in Modern South Asian Studies in the academical year 2013–14 will be:

SA1

Debates in South Asian Studies (core course):

This will be examined by an essay of not more than 5,000 words on a topic chosen from a list approved by the Degree Committee.

SA2

Optional course:

This will be examined by an essay of not more than 5,000 words on a topic under either (i), (ii), or (iii) below, chosen by the candidate from a list approved by the Degree Committee:

(i) Modern art and society: appropriating modernism in twentieth-century India

(ii) Modern Indian society: development and social transformation

(iii) Violence and non-violence: politics of modernity in twentieth century South Asia
