The Registrary has received notice from the Clerk at the Privy Council Office that Her Majesty the Queen, at a Council held on 9 February 2011, was pleased to approve amendments of Statute A and Statute D which were submitted under the Common Seal of the University in accordance with Graces 3 of 19 May 2010 and 4 of 16 June 2010.
The amendments to Statute A, I, 6(c) and A, IV, 7(b) authorized under Grace 3 of 19 May 2010 relate to membership of the Senate for holders of Master’s degrees and the procedure for elections of student members of the Council (see the Council’s Report, dated 15 March 2010, on amendments to Statute A (membership of the Senate and election of student members of the Council) (Reporter, 2009–10, p. 660)).
The amendment to Statute D, XIV, 14 authorized under Grace 4 of 16 June 2010 includes the Humanitas Visiting Professorships in the list of Visiting Professorships that may be held by persons over the age of sixty-seven years (see the Report of the General Board, dated 21 May 2010, on the establishment of a Humanitas Visiting Professorships Fund (Reporter, 2009–10, p. 921)).
The Vice-Chancellor invites those qualified under the regulations for Discussions (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 107) to attend a Discussion in the Senate-House, on Tuesday, 22 February 2011, at 2 p.m., for the discussion of the Second Report of the General Board, dated 2 February 2011, on the establishment of a Professorship of Management Studies (Reporter, 2010–11, p. 489).
The Vice-Chancellor wishes to remind members of the University that Dr Harold Varmus, Director of the National Cancer Institute (USA) and Nobel Laureate, will lecture in the Senate-House at 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 9 March 2011. The title for the Lecture will be The purpose and conduct of science.
There will be a reception afterwards. The Lecture is open to all who are interested, and Senior members of the University attending should wear gowns.
