A prolific inventor and suffrage campaigner, Hertha Ayrton (1854-1923) was one of Cambridge University’s first female scientists. Despite winning prestigious awards for her research into electricity and sand ripples, she was excluded from the Royal Society, but has now become an iconic figurehead encouraging women to pursue scientific careers.

Cambridge West unveils a new public artwork, Third Nature. Join artist group Troika in a discussion chaired by Andrew Nairne, Director, Kettle’s Yard. This event explores nature at the intersection of art, science and technology and includes a close look at Third Nature, which consists of 15 native and non-native mature trees, selected with the Botanic Gardens, and in a tree library grid pattern.
