In Her Words: Women Artists and Life Writing Symposium

For centuries, women artists have produced autobiographical accounts of their lives and careers, using diaries, letters and other types of writing as a means of resistance, reflection, and self-fashioning. Taking a broad geographical approach, this symposium will address how women artists, between 1900 and the present, navigate their artistic identities through writing.

A Conversation with Lord Alf Dubs

Fri 22 March 2024

The Auditorium, Mill Lane Site, Pembroke College

We are honoured to host Lord Alf Dubs as a guest and Keynote Speaker at our symposium on Migration, Identity, and Memory. Known for having once said "I am what circumstances have made me", Lord Dubs's can speak personally to our exploration of the many facets of migration and the ways in which it shapes who we become. Lord Dubs was born in Prague in 1932 and was one of the 669 Czech children Nicholas Winton saved from the Nazis via the Kindertransport. We look forward to hearing him share insights on his experiences and how these are still so relevant in today's world.
