Tue 16 May 2023
Selwyn College
'Not Just for the Boys', which hits bookshelves this May, examines the historic societal exclusion of women from science and the systemic disadvantages women in science operate under. In this talk, Donald will discuss the common myths that science isn't creative and that it is carried out by a lone genius in an ivory tower, offering her perspective on what progress has been made, and how more is needed.
Athene Donald is a professor in experimental physics and Master of Churchill College. She was the first University of Cambridge Gender Equality Champion and has been awarded the L'Oreal/UNESCO For Women in Science Laureate for Europe.
