Zoology Late: Acoustic Spaces / Threatened Places

Fri 31 January 2020

Museum of Zoology

Join University of Cambridge New Music Group, conducted by Darren Bloom, for a programme of music including: John Luther Adams - The Light that Fills the World; Benjamin Graves - The Visions of Elizabeth Barton; Kaija Saariaho - Terrestre Grisey – Périodes; and new works by students of the University of Cambridge. From John Luther Adams' evocation of the frozen Alaskan landscape - now under extreme pressure from climate change, to Kaija Saariaho's reflection on aboriginal tales of birds, and Grisey's exploration of the nature of sound itself as an allegory for periodicity of life; all the pieces, in their own way, draw upon the environment and our place within it.

Suitable for ages 18+
Tickets: £12 standard tickets, £3 for students. Booking essential.
