The programme for the morning is as follows:

10 am – Coffee and tea served on arrival

10.15 – 10.45am - Hasok Chang delivers a talk entitled: 'Is physics the foundation of all sciences?'

Hasok Chang is a Fellow of Clare Hall, and the Hans Rausing Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge. Until 2010 he taught at University College London, having taken his degrees in the United States. His research focuses on the history of chemistry and physics, and various general issues in the philosophy of science.

10.45 – 11.00am – Q & A

11.00 – 11.30am - Carolyn Cobbold delivers a talk entitled 'Food to dye for. The normalisation of chemical food additives'.

Carolyn Cobbold is a Research Fellow at Clare Hall investigating how man-made chemicals became legitimised as food ingredients. Prior to taking a PhD at Cambridge in the History of Science, Carolyn worked as a risk management journalist. Outside of academia, Carolyn has also been involved in helping make coastal communities more resilient to climate change.

11.30 – 11.45am – Q & A
