CLASSROOM COURSE Designing and planting a herbaceous border

Sat 24 September 2022

Botanic Garden

Few aspects of gardening are as rewarding as designing with herbaceous perennials. They offer dramatic change throughout the year starting with fresh emergent foliage and bulbs before the floral abundance of spring and early summer, and finishing with decadent bronzes and golds as late summer moves into autumn. We will look at how to structure your approach to designing a herbaceous border, using not only colour but also combining plants according to shape, texture and form. We will also look at how to plant for successional interest to keep your plantings looking attractive year round. We will explore the varied herbaceous plantings in the Botanic Garden and see different approaches and styles that will hopefully inform and inspire your own gardening.

Cost: £35
