Enjoy Strauss’s Metamorphosen, written shortly after World War Two, which is an elegy to a lost world, and one of the most moving, last works of the composer. It will be presented in the rare version for septet, and preceded by the sextet from his last opera, Capriccio. We will then hear one of Brückner’s few non-symphonic masterpieces, his quintet, which combines the power and scope of his symphonic writing with the intimacy of chamber music.
