Fri 17 November 2023

Jesus College

?The upheavals and violence of the twentieth century resulted in displacements and dislocations on an almost unimaginable scale.

In this lecture, Professor Sheila Fitzpatrick, distinguished historian of modern Russia and of migration, will discuss the displacement of things and people across the former Soviet Union and its sphere of influence, within and beyond its borders.

Professor Sheila Fitzpatrick is one of Australia’s foremost historians and a recognised expert on the Soviet Union and modern Russian history. Since receiving her PhD from Oxford, she has taught at a number of universities in the UK, the United States, and Australia. She is currently a Professor at the Australian Catholic University, Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney, and Distinguished Service Professor Emerita of the University of Chicago.
