Cambridge Physics Centre presents Einstein, General Relativity and Gravitational Waves by Prof Malcolm Longair
Thu 21 March 2019
Cavendish Laboratory
The discovery of gravitational waves is of the greatest significance for fundamental physics, astrophysics and cosmology. The essence of what Einstein did, the way in which the general theory leads to the inevitability of black holes, the evidence for them, the nature of gravitational waves and the great importance of the recent LIGO results will be described in this richly illustrated lecture.
