The General Board, on the recommendation of the Institute’s Strategic Committee, has agreed to the renaming of the Institute of Continuing Education as the Institute of Professional and Continuing Education, to be promoted to prospective students as University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education. The new name has been chosen to more clearly define the Institute’s purpose, distinguish it from its competitors, and present it as a contemporary, accessible and high-quality brand. It is hoped that the new identity will attract new adult learners, especially those from diverse non‑traditional backgrounds, whilst reinforcing the Institute’s value to existing and former learners.
The Board has approved changes to reflect the change in name as set out in the Annex. The Council is submitting a Grace (Grace 1, p. 538) to update references to the Institute in Ordinances.

The Task and Finish Group overseeing the University’s Review of Teaching (Reporter, 2023–24: 6722, p. 197; 6749, p. 782) has produced its final recommendations. These recommendations outline how the University should address the identified issues affecting student workload and sustainability of the supervision system.
There are nine recommendations in total, across three categories: Systemic recommendations, which aim to enable change through infrastructure, culture and policy; Enhancement recommendations, which aim to ensure continued educational excellence; and Communication recommendations, which seek to provide clear and coherent information for students and staff. Each recommendation has a separate timeframe for implementation, with some coming into effect from Michaelmas 2025 and others within two to four years.
The full recommendations are available at: https://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/cam-only/reporter/2024-25/weekly/6781/TeachingReviewFinal2025.pdf (University account required). Individuals may submit questions on the recommendations via the Group’s enquiry form, available on the Teaching Review site at: https://universityofcambridgecloud.sharepoint.com/sites/UoC_EducationServicesProjectDeliveryTeam/SitePages/Teaching Review.aspx (University account required).
The Task and Finish Group wishes to extend its thanks to all of those who contributed to the Review, both in understanding the issues and considering possible recommendations and the impacts and implications they might pose.
