The Council submits the following Grace to the Regent House. This Grace, unless it is withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 112), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 20 December 2024. Further information on requests for a ballot or the amendment of Graces is available to members of the Regent House on the Regent House Petitions site.§
1. Notwithstanding Regulation 11 of the Ordinance for Payments Additional to Stipend and Regulation 1 of the Ordinance for the Pro-Vice-Chancellors (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 688 and p. 691), that the Vice‑Chancellor be permitted to confer the title of Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor on two Pro-Vice-Chancellors from 1 January 2025 until 30 September 2027 and the Council to authorise pensionable payments additional to stipend to both holders of the title, provided that those payments shall not exceed the amount that would have been payable to one Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor.1
1The holder of the title of Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor takes responsibility for leading and co-ordinating the work of the Pro‑Vice‑Chancellors and receives an additional payment in recognition of the extra responsibility. After consulting with all of those appointed to the office of Pro-Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor would like to confer the title of Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor on two Pro-Vice-Chancellors, so that they can share the additional responsibility. As the regulations only envisage the Vice-Chancellor conferring the title on one individual, the Council is submitting a Grace to seek approval, on this occasion, for the conferment of the title on two Pro‑Vice-Chancellors and for the payment to be shared between them.
