Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 31 July 2024

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 112), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 9 August 2024. Further information on requests for a ballot or the amendment of Graces is available to members of the Regent House on the Regent House Petitions site.§

1. That, with effect from 1 October 2024, the restrictions on contribution increments for academic staff in Grades 9, 10 and 11 of the Cambridge general stipend and salary scale be removed by revising the text of Note 4 attached to Schedule I of the Ordinance for Stipends (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 685) to read as follows:1

Note 4Assistant Professors will be appointed to Grade 9.

Senior Research Associates will be appointed to Grade 9.

Research Associates will be appointed to Grade 7 spine point 40 from 6 April 2017 and to spine point 41 from 1 October 2017.

Research Assistants will be appointed to Grade 5.

The minimum for Professors (Grade 12) will be point 68 in Band 1 of Grade 12.

2. That the recommendations in paragraph 6 of the First-stage Report of the Council, dated 2 July 2024, on the alteration and refurbishment of the Stirling Building on the Sidgwick site (Reporter, 6748, 2023–24, p. 729) be approved.2

3. That approval be given for the disposal of land as described in the Council’s Notice dated 18 July 2024 (p. 856).
