Graces

Grace submitted to the Regent House on 26 June 2019

The Council submits the following Grace to the Regent House. This Grace, unless it is withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 105) will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 5 July 2019.

1. That, with effect from the examinations in the Easter Term 2019, Regulation 9 of the regulations for Allowances to Candidates for Examinations (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 244) be amended to read as follows:1

9. In the case of a candidate who has been declared to have deserved honours under Regulation 3(b), the following statement shall be appended to any certificate issued by the Registrary relating to that examination:

This candidate has been awarded an allowance in accordance with the Universitys regulations. The authorities concerned are of the opinion that, for good reason, it would be unfair to classify the candidate since they believe that this would not adequately represent the candidates attainment. They have accordingly agreed to declare the candidate to have deserved honours in this examination.

Footnotes

  • 1By Grace 3 of 27 June 2018, changes were made to the regulations for Allowances to Candidates for Examinations which revised the circumstances in which a candidate could be declared to have deserved honours. However, a consequential change to Regulation 9 was overlooked. The Council is submitting this Grace to update the wording of Regulation 9 to reflect the changes.
