Regulations for examinations

Archaeology Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 269)

With effect from 1 October 2019

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Human, Social and Political Science, has approved amendments to the regulations for the Archaeology Tripos so as to remove Papers M7 and M8, replace Paper SOC4 with SOC2, remove Paper B5 and make some editorial changes as shown below.

Part I

Regulation 11.

Section A

By amending the title of Paper M1 ‘Akkadian language I’ to ‘Babylonian language’.

Part II

Regulation 15.

By inserting an asterisk after Paper A13 ‘Past in the present’.

By amending the title of Paper A35 from ‘African archaeology’ to ‘The archaeology of Africa’.

By amending the title of Paper B4 from ‘Human comparative biology’ to ‘Comparative human biology’.

By amending the title of Paper M4 from ‘Akkadian language II’ to ‘Intermediate Babylonian’.

By amending the title of Paper M5 from ‘Akkadian language III’ to ‘Advanced Babylonian and Assyrian’.

By deleting papers M7 and M8.

Regulation 16.

By replacing in Regulation 16(a)(iv) ‘SOC4’ with ‘SOC2’.

By removing from Regulation 16(b)(iii) ‘M7, or M8’.

By removing from Regulation 16(b)(iv) ‘M7–M8’, and replacing ‘SOC4’ with ‘SOC2’.

Regulation 17.

By removing from Regulation 17(b)(iii) ‘M7, or M8’.

By removing from Regulation 17(b)(iv) ‘–M8’.

By removing from Regulation 17(c)(i)(1) ‘one paper chosen from B4 or’.

By amending Regulation 17(c)(i)(4) so as to read:

(4) a dissertation on a subject approved by the Head of the Department of Archaeology which shall be submitted in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 18;

By removing from Regulation 17(c)(ii)(3) ‘Paper B5 or’.

By removing from Regulation 17(f)(iv) ‘either two papers chosen from B11–B18, A13, AS1–AS12, A50–A62; or one paper chosen from the following: B2–B3, B5–B6, A10, A12, A21–A36, A38–A41; or’.

Master of Research in Physical Sciences

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 551)

With effect from 1 October 2019

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography, has approved the addition of Environmental Data Science as a course of study for the Degree of Master of Research in Physical Sciences and the amendment of the Schedule to the regulations to allow for its inclusion.

By adding ‘Environmental Data Science’ to the Schedule to the regulations for the M.Res. in Physical Sciences:

With effect from 1 October 2019

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Strategic Committee of the Institute of Continuing Education, has agreed the following amendments to the Schedule of Diplomas and Certificates open to non-members of the University:

Diplomas

By adding the following titles to the list of Diplomas:

Diploma in Genetics

Diploma in Historic Building Conservation

Certificates

Institute of Continuing Education

By adding the following titles to the list of Certificates:

Certificate in Historic Building Conservation

Certificate in History

Certificate in Immunology

Certificate in Infectious Diseases

Certificate of Higher Education in Infection and Immunity

Postgraduate Certificate in Britain and the Holocaust

And by adding a footnote to the Certificate of Higher Education in Historic Building Conservation to read as follows:

1 The Certificate of Higher Education in Historic Building Conservation will be closed to applicants from 1 October 2019 and will be removed from the Schedule once all current students have completed the course.
